"Give me Liberty or give me death!"

~ Patrick Henry ~

"The natural inspiration towards liberty for all when acted upon, essentially renders the individual metaphorically a Warrior of Light. Along with the idea of voluntary self-sacrifice, this principle is the only thing of universal positive value to be found in any moral system or religion. All other elements simply reflect peripheral things, sometimes of great archetypal value, but only to the particular cultural groups among whom they occur. The flip side of this is of course, that any individual who works against individual liberty is to that extent a Slave of Darkness".

"The individual has the natural right to live in a free society, failing this, to live in liberty within any society in which he may find himself, regardless of the "consequences" to anyone else. Absolute individual liberty is the one and only thing worth fighting for. The truly Libertarian position is superior to all others, intellectually and morally. There are few, however, who really understand or practice Libertarian ideals. No existing government and very few people will knowingly permit complete liberty to anyone if it seems to suit their purpose to do otherwise. People who don't want to be free are cowards. People who don't want others to be free are criminals. The majority of people on Earth always have been and still are both. If the individual wants liberty, he has to reach out and take it at any cost, must guard it jealously, and to keep it, must be willing to fight even unto his death".

Introduction to The World Libertarian Order
from the early period in 1983

Preface

The World Libertarian Order is an international fraternal organization for men and women who possess the courage to love and the integrity to live in accordance with Libertarian principals. We offer no ethnic affiliation in this context but choose an Old Norse symbol as our inspiration. The World Tree Yggdrasil is a representation of steadfastness and eternal life through evolution. The membership is small but increasing at an encouraging rate. The ideals will be readily comprehended by all true Libertarians.

The Quest is to establish that one condition which favors the unimpeded evolutionary expression of all living things on Earth. The method is through the worldwide actualization of what is conceptualized as a Libertarian World Order now lying dormant everywhere. This is not to suggest that there should ever be one country or even a confederation. Preferably not. Separate sovereign Libertarian republics can be less easily subverted back to collectivism than one nation.

This is a very lofty ideal and in the short term should be thought of simply as a principle underlying Libertarian action, as the higher potential first for one's own country. When a thing is proven to work well in one place other countries will follow suit. The Quest then is the establishment of a Libertarian World Order consisting of separate sovereign Libertarian republics, not all at once, but eventually, time frames here depending on the degree of understanding and will to liberty of individual peoples throughout the world.

The Quest is the longest and the grimmest that can be undertaken. It requires unlimited personal strength, a completely unfailing and uncompromising will, plus tremendous spiritual courage in the face of always overwhelming odds. Formal entry into the World Libertarian Order requires a steadfast commitment to the principles of absolute individual liberty. Self-initiation is performed in the field, and is augmented by an "in absentia" ceremony performed at headquarters.

Such should not be entered into hurriedly or for selfish reasons. There is no room in any of this for personal obstacles of a lower nature. Absolute self-mastery is necessary and must be achieved as a prerequisite to effective participation. There will be pleasure and glory enough of the kind that really matters when mankind as a whole is well on the way to that unending splendor which accrues only to living in accordance with natural order. This will occur only when individual liberty is achieved everywhere.

Special thanks must be extenuated here to first family of radical Libertarianism. Without the help of Lars, Greta, Dirk, and Heidi Lokison the mebership of the WLO would today be very much less(1).

Introduction by Dirk A. Lokison
July 31, 1983
Boston

"Ceremonial Founding of the WLO" is the original text read by Eric Fenris Magnuson at the ceremonial founding the World Libertarian Order on Burial Hill in Plymouth, Massachusetts on February 12, 1983. It outlines, to some extent, methods to be used in the accomplishment of the Quest. Individual creative genius must be diligently applied in this area in accordance with one's own abilities and courage. Names appearing originally as signatures, were "consigned to flame" as part of the ceremony and have been omitted from this text for reasons of personal privacy.

"Bylaws of the WLO" includes a body of procedure for the Order and the Oath of Membership. It is best that the Oath be taken on the morning of February 12, but only if this will not cause delay.
