In a Libertarian society, government needn't get involved in health care. The only reason for the ridiculous cost of medical care today is because the loss of financial assets caused by collectivist societies has led to such desperation that medical malpractice suits have become an almost routine way of trying to make ends meet.

This has led to increased costs for everything medical. For example, a small switch used in a medical application will cost seven times what it would cost at the hardware store. This is to cover for lawsuits(10).

It's not at all unusual today for a general practitioner of medicine to have an annual insurance premium of a hundred and twenty thousand dollars. The amount for surgeons must often be two or three times greater. Doctors' rates must cover them for this(11).

Certain kinds of damaging effects which have come about very slowly in a collectivist society can only be expected to go away very slowly, even under a Libertarian system. People learn values in response to conditions, over time. Changing to a workable system of economics doesn't automatically change human values.

Doctors won't suddenly drop their fees just because of a change in economic policy which they may be too busy to read about, nor will people suddenly stop filing lawsuits. The only thing that can speed the return to normalcy will be a massive education program accompanying the triumph of Libertarian candidates everywhere.
