Copa Cabana

December 9. 2026

One of the other DNA samples is traced to a young ex-convict named Victor Cardozi, who works at the Copa Cabana Diner in Nashua. Victor had visited Ravenswood, posing as a student, to see what he might be able to steal. When two FBI agents come to talk to him, Victor, whose balls still ache from the beatings he revived in prison, pulls a gun and wounds one of the agents before the other kills him.

One headline reads,

Ravenswood Reaper Killed in Nashua Shootout

The FBI isn’t so quick as this, and the next day Agent Boxer puts a picture of Cardozi in the Raven’s Voice, inviting students to post as to whether they ever saw the man on campus. Eight students post that they did. None could remember the exact date, but indicated that it was recently. Boxer tells Dean Moulton that, as far as he is concerned, the case is closed.

Moulton, with an all-student Email, lifts the ban on student meetings, but asserts agreement with Garrett Valdison that students should concentrate on education rather than on trying to run the world before they even have an education. Ted likes this guy, despite the poor man’s personal misfortune in faggotry.

While preparing a hearty breakfast, Ted makes a decision. He has been thinking a good deal about what a close shave he has just had, and decides to retire as the campus Reaper, and to transfer his espionage to other more distant, off-campus venues, only really important targets as they may present themselves, and only within a two hundred-mile radius.
