Adjustments

January 6, 2030

President Benedict sends a memo to all members of both houses of Congress:

“I send this memo to invite your suggestions about implementation of the policy adjustments associated with simple Libertarian decency and smart living. I hope to hear your suggestions and get some votes in a joint session the morning of January 17. There are six main proposals:

1. We must all end unnecessary environmental pollution as soon as it is viable. No more ten year "feasibility" studies or twenty year "implementation" programs.

2. Let us Institute requirements in livestock production, zoo administration, and pet ownership based upon humane, free-range, hormone/drug-free models.

3. We muat prevent the cruel down breeding of pets into evolutionary non-viability, and sterilize the existing animals. At some level os empathy we all know why little dogs are so nervous and angry that they bark viciously all day, every day. We would be angry, too if this had been done to us.

4. It’s time to give the national park and forest lands back to the pre-Columbian American immigrants from whom they were originally stolen. Do this with the provision that they continue to run the lands at a high standard, for the enjoyment of all Americans. Offer current post-Columbian immigrant employees life tenure or a new job.

5. Gently nudge the medical community to overhaul their profession, stressing nutritional solutions, both therapeutic and preventive, as opposed to only pharmacological and surgical options. Also to terminate the duplicitous role of the physician as both personal doctor and commission salesman for drug companies, Doctors must prescribe only within generic categories, the specific choice of drugs being left to the patients who will select on the basis of price and manufacturer reputation.

6. As a society ne must respect the right of individuals to decide when their life is no longer viable. Establish regional centers where people can be put into cryonic suspension, or receive lethal injection and be cremated."

All of President Benedicts proposals have been addressed admirably by Congress. Many of the proposals are in the works already, and the rest are completed within two months.
