Ernie the Rapist

March 5, 2028. New York City

In a small room, a Negro man, thirty, is just dressing after raping a sobbing white girl twenty-two. She has bruises on her face.

“You don’t rat me out, bitch, or I’ll come back and eat yo’ face, you got me?”

“Yeah, okay,” Debbie sobs.

The rapist leaves, catches a bus, and a few blocks away gets off, walks down the street, into a Socialist headquarters with pictures of a multiracial handshake in one window and os Che Guevara in the other. Just inside, there is a strange portrait of Jesus with a rifle strapped to his back.

“Hey Ernie, where you been, muthafuck? We got stuff to do,” whines Jamal with a nervous impatient look.

An hour later, Ernie and Jamal are walking down a shady tree-lined street in a prosperous white neighborhood. In five more minutes, they are robbing a fancy convenience store, the victims at gunpoint.

As the proprietor hands over the money, Ernie says “Oh, thank you so very much, Massa.” and shoots him in the heart.

Jamal is behind the counter hitting the owner’s wife with a truncheon. When she falls to the floor he kicks her in the throat and she dies.

“Cheap fuckers, only a handed thirty-three bucks for all our trouble,” says Ernie, fingering the money, “hardly worth our time.”

Jerry the Boozer

March 8, 2028 7:45 PM

Jerry, a Negro man about forty, has had a lot of vodka since dinner. He walks into the neighborhood community center gymnasium. It’s rainy tonight, so nobody is here except Phil, an architecture student, studying in the cribbage room, and Evelyn, an elderly white woman who runs the place. As Jerry checks in, she smells the vodka on him, but at first says nothing. Jerry heads for the men’s room.

After thinking it over, Evelyn decides to ask Jerry to leave. He returns from the men’s room and leans against the rail, gazing down at the empty gymnasium floor. Evelyn comes out of the office and says.

“I’m sorry, Jerry, but I really need you to come back another time when you haven’t had so much to drink. It’s just our policy.”

Jerry mumbles “White America” to himself, but says

“Okay”

wondering how she figured out that he’s drunk. As he heads towards the door, Evelyn returns to her office.

In the meantime, Carl, a third generation Swede, and Oscar from the Argentine, have come into the center, and have joined Phil in the cribbage room. The TV is on and the three are watching the entertainment news, talking about movies during the commercials. Jerry sees them though the door window, and bursts in on them

Jerry says to Phil, gesturing

“These two motherfuckers told the old lady I been drinkin’ and got me thrown out.”

Neither Carl, nor Oscar, even knew that Jerry was in the building, and are speechless, amazed and amused by this vile drunkard’s suspicious self-importance. Jerry stands glowering hatefully at Carl and asks

“You tryin’ to fuck with me, you jerk off?”

Carl won’t be put on the defensive by this joker and says calmly.

“I suggest you leave right now,”

indicating the span of an inch between his fingertips,

“because I am about this far from calling Metro.”

Jerry turns and storms out the door mumbling insults. Oscar says to Carl,

“That was beautiful. You threw him out.”

Carl feigns a modest look, and says;

“Thank you, Senor.”

Outside, Jerry sees a car with a lady’s pocket book sitting on the front seat. He looks around, pulls out his trusty Slim Jim, opens the car door and takes the pocket book, leaving the area quickly.

Henry the Loudmouth

March 11, 2028

At the same community center to the left in the library-television room, Carl is watching the entertainment news again, when Henry, a Negro man about thirty, walks in and right away says.

“Shit man, can’t we watch the ballgame?”

Carl replies,

“It’s usually sports on the Cribbage Room TV in the gymnasium area. We try to reserve this for movies, science programs, and other stuff,”

Henry says

“Fuck, man, I’m here. I’m not goin’ over there.”

Carl looks mildly annoyed and says, gesturing,

“It’s a hundred feet away! I’m watching this. You do whatever you want.”

Henry mumbles.

“Muthafuck”

and walks over to a dish of cookies and starts to eat a big oatmeal-raisin. When nobody’s looking he stuffs his pockets with a dozen more. Then he sits down shouting out reactions to the TV content at regular intervals to ruin it for Carl.

Socialist Headquarters

March 14. 2028

Inside, Ernie, Jamal, Jerry, and Henry are sitting together at a big kitchen table talking.

Ernie is saying.

“I am im-pov-er-ished today. No money for anything.  Motherfuchers givin’ no increase on benefits again this year. And no inflation. Shit man, I’m disabled.”

The others smirk and Jerry says,

“You disabled in yo’ head, nigger.”

Now they all laugh. Ernie says,

“Oh, an’ you ain’t?”

“Hell yes! My attitude for workin’ with the eternal white man is eternally disabled. Them fuckers owe us forever!”

Jamal says

“An we gonna collect, an’ keep on collectin’!”

Henry says.

“You got that right.”
