Liberty and Natural Order

I. LIBERTY AND NATURAL ORDER

1. Liberty is that total optionality regarding individual behavior which must end only where that of the next living creature's begins.

2. Liberty is man's inalienable birthright to pursue life and happiness in any way which does not reasonably and directly interfere with anyone else's pursuit of life and happiness.

3. Among the Wise it is generally conceded that besides youth and health, absolute individual liberty is the one thing of this world which is truly worth having, because having this, all else can be attained with reasonable effort.

4. The amount of liberty necessary for true self actualization is effectively greater for the individual possessing inspiration than for the mediocre individual who demands very little of himself. Apart from any question of moral development, this is why the mediocre individual cares less about liberty. He simply can't perceive as much need for it (6).

5. The truth is a treasure chest unlocked by a key forged in the Fires of Love and tempered by the Waters of Reason. There is no morality outside of completely Libertarian values, only varying shades of immorality.

6. Some, in attempting to sound very cosmopolitan, like to say that "nobody has a monopoly on truth". Actually, Libertarianism has an absolute monopoly on truth - and morality. Let us keep in mind, however, that these things exist apart from the ability of any particular individual to perceive them with absolute clarity. In a society where one has been endlessly bombarded since youth with collectivist ideas from both sides, it may be difficult to be perfectly Libertarian in one's perceptions in all situations. Developed people, however, will continually aspire to perfection in this.

7. Collectivism is the general term used to denote any political system based upon the compromise that "otherwise unjust" coercion against the individual is justified, for the so called "greater good" of society. Collectivists will say that they believe in individual liberty, but always have a list of exceptions which they feel must exist anyway. They will say that we must give up some liberties to preserve others. Sometimes it is mere intellectual ignorance which makes people think this way, sometimes innate moral inferiority. The problem is that when everybody is through reading their list of exceptions to individual liberty, all that is left is the unworkable structure of a collectivist society.

8. When collectivist government crimes are continually perpetrated in defiance of known superior alternatives, they must also be effectively regarded as treason:

9. There are two kinds of individuals in the world, free men and un-free men. Un-free men further divide into masters and slaves, both of whom are un-free because they need each other.

10. A man is a slave to the extent to which he will give his labor, or his income, to another who demands it from him. If he allows himself further, to be brainwashed into believing that being sacrificed this way is really for his own good, then he is also a stupid slave.

11. There is a natural human right to be free because animals are free. Liberty, however, does not mean freedom from normal predation or struggles for dominance in the human world any more than it does in the animal. It does, however, mean that there will be adequate mechanism for dealing with either if the degree of either should become measurably unjust.

12. Any society which sacrifices the individual for the "greater good" is based upon a false premise, because ultimately society is nothing more than an aggregation of individuals. One does not inherit a yoke at birth. The individual owes absolutely nothing to society that will not justly serve his own interests, except to respect the liberty of others. Liberty, in the purest sense, does not involve being a slave harnessed to the task of alleviating hunger among the "underprivileged", eternally a mere dumb soldier in "the war on poverty".

13. Liberty has been destructively compromised in any society whose government can legally coerce, or openly steal from any of it's citizens. Civil liberty is essential in a free society, but should not be seen as a substitute for economic liberty. The freedom to travel means absolutely nothing without the money to pay for it.

14. It is government's job to protect the just interests of the individual citizen, but not against the just interests of any other citizen. What one earns or inherits honorably is justly and entirely one's own, and in a free society is respected and defended as such.

15. Liberty involves the responsibility for bearing one's own failures every bit as much as it involves the right to enjoy the fruits of one's own success. It is the freedom to lose or win fairly.

16. The true Libertarian impulse comes from the desire and courage to walk life's tightrope without that safety net provided by collectivist government through the victimization of others. It is a matter of simple self respect and has to do with pride of rightness within oneself.

"If the individual is born into an unfree society, he will have no legal rights corresponding to his natural ones since these depend upon other people. He is endowed, however, in many cases, with the potential to be something more than merely a slave, and always with the choice of turning his will towards this end". ~ Dirk the Sun Warrior ~

17. Any encroachment upon individual liberty constitutes an interference with evolutionary destiny, because it interferes with the evolutionary expression of another living organism. Any individual attempting to prevent the triumph of libertarian ideals in any way is to that extent an enemy of evolving life everywhere in the universe, regardless of expressed intent.

`8. In this context the terms "un-Libertarian" and "evil" are synonymous. Evil is the tendency to make any kind of unjust encroachment against another living thing. Un-Libetarian politics are simply the attempt to institutionalize such encroachment.

19. Once having had adequate exposure to the truth, those who persist in un-Libertarian attitudes identify themselves as mere thugs and thereby proclaim their inferiority and herald their doom. There will be no compromise.

20. Collectivist governments of any kind have no legitimacy whatsoever, either from a standpoint of morality or long term workability, and will by right thinking people be thrown down everywhere.

21. Recalcitrant functionaries of collectivist governments who interfere unjustly with the enactment of Libertarian policies have little positive worth as people, are criminals, and will everywhere be treated accordingly. The approach needn't necessarily be confrontational, as "between gentlemen".

22. Natural order will prevail ultimately no matter what man does. It will prevail either with man's self destruction or with his survival in liberty. There can be no middle ground.

Who We Have to Fight

Footnotes:

6. This is not intended to imply that mediocre people are entitled to less liberty.

7. Usually sponsored by politicians to give monopoly to cronies in return for support. Not to be confused with legitimate user fees like a fishing "license" which simply pays for wildlife management in connection with fishing.
