Student Assembly

When George and the other fairies were blown up last month, Dean Moulton decided not to take any action other than to answer the normal questions asked by the police. He knows what a creep George was, and is not surprised that the fellow came to a bad end.

The latest killing, however, suggests to many, including the police, the possibility of a sinister presence on campus. In Dean Moulton’s mind, the incidents are probably unrelated, but he feels pressure to do something this time, so he calls for an all-school assembly. Attendance is mandatory. Police detectives will be at all the entry doors posing as mere name checkers.

Ted enters the assembly hall with a group of students from one of his psych classes. As they walk in, they are discussing various theories about the profile of the “serial killer”. Ted lets the others expound. Nobody notices him in particular.

Ten minutes later, Dean Moulton concludes his address to the student body,

"...so if anybody sees or hears anything unusual: threats, gossip, or anything else, please Email me immediately. Your identity can remain hidden if you prefer, because there is an optional module that will not display your student account or number. Thank you all for patience in attending today on such short notice.”
