German Ski Moon

January 14, 1946

Professor Herschel Fein teaches Marxism at the University of Munich. He simply refuses to admit that Ludwig Von Mises completely eclipsed Karl Marx by 1920. He even calls himself a German patriot, but is totally committed to globalization. It’s blatant in his lectures and writings.

It’s winter break, and Professor Fein is at his home in the country. It seems almost contradictory that a sissy like this should be a skier, but every night one hour before bedtime he enjoys a thirty minute Nordic run alone in the woods. In some places the views are impressive, especially when the moon is strong. He finds the night air bracing, and the exercise makes it easier to sleep.

Tonight the moon is full and there are beautiful high flying clouds. The professor always slows down along the ridge that overlooks the lake. This time he happens to look back, and sees another skier coming up behind, but why does he feel suddenly fearful about this?

The professor speeds up. After a few yards he looks back to see that the other shier has also speeded up. A few more yards and he sees that the other is gaining on him. Now, as a cloud passes, the moon shines fully bright, and Professor Fein can see that the other skier is wearing one of those large fur hats with ears, usually made from a real wolf’s head.

A few more yards and he turns again. No, it’s not a hat! The other skier has the head of a wolf, and his long strides aren’t exactly human, are they? The professor is filled with panic, but then the other calls out,

“You there, Fein. Please slow down!”

The panic abates. The fellow is human after all. The professor stops. As the other skies up, the panic returns, but thrice compounded. The fellow is not human. Says the wolf on skies,

“You are a disgrace to Germany. Your foul career of teaching German young people Communist lies, ends right here and now.”

With one swipe from long claws, the wolf skier relieves Professor Fein of his face. Now there is just a living skull, still attached, with eyes intact, emitting a long horrified scream that would curdle even the blood of Josef Mengele.
