Genetic Research

Ernst Rüdin, a Swiss-born German psychiatrist and geneticist, studied under Emil Kraepelin in Munich, and later assumed directorship of what is now called the Max Planck Institute of Psychiatry. He is regarded as the pioneer of psychiatric inheritance research. Under the Third Reich, he is required to design and seek funding for the mass sterilization and clinical killing of children and adults.
